- ➤ The City of Elyria named Brock Zifcak Employee of the Month after he saved a life at the Rec Center by using an AED machine during a basketball game. He has worked for the Parks & Recreation Department for ten years (as facility manager) and the mayor praised his quick thinking and steady actions. City of Elyria
- ➤ The City of Elyria was awarded a $325,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources through the Land and Water Conservation Fund to build an inclusive playground in West Park. Mayor Kevin Brubaker said the city will work with ODNR — updates on the project will be shared as work begins. City of Elyria
- ➤ The City of Elyria was awarded a $136,469 grant from the EPA Recycle Ohio Program to support its organic recycling program run by Barnes Nursery at the compost facility. The funding will cover the costs to process nearly 500 tons of waste each year and reduce landfill use (city officials say it saved over $130,000) as the program continues to serve local residents.
