CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Arthur Velasquez was indicted by a Geauga County Grand Jury on charges of attempted murder and aggravated burglary after he stabbed his ex-girlfriend at Dollar General in Brunswick at about 8:30 a.m. on March 31; he contacted police to surrender, was treated at a local hospital — then taken to Medina County Jail and is held on a $5 million bond with a June 12 court date pending. - ➤ A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday and booked into Lorain County Jail for felonious assault in connection with a double fatal shooting in a Tower Blvd parking lot that killed two people Friday. Cleveland 19 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio lawmakers passed a bill to end the E-Check car emissions testing program and replace it with an alternative emissions certificate — the plan now awaits EPA approval after Gov. DeWine signed the measure, which could save about eleven to twelve million dollars a year. Cleveland 19 News
- ➤ The I-80 west offramp at Toll Plaza 152 closed Tuesday for work on the bridges over the offramp and Lorain Road. Motorists are advised to use Toll Plaza 161 until the offramp reopens Aug. 1 while the new bridge decks are expected to be finished by Oct. 10. Cleveland 19 News
