- ➤ Former Lorain County corrections officer Christopher Jackson was fired in April and now faces dereliction of duty charges for not waiting for backup during a December 29 incident in which an inmate threw feces and escaped briefly—video shows he engaged in a physical confrontation. - ➤ Henry Spooner, a 23-year-old from Elyria, was convicted Tuesday for the October 2022 murder of Jordan Flanigan after officers answered a call on October 27 at about 7:45 p.m. near the 1800 block of Middle Avenue & discovered Flanigan with a fatal gunshot wound. Cleveland 19 News

- ➤ A state grant of $67.4 million has been awarded to prepare more than 1,000 acres near Lorain County Airport for new industry and housing, marking a major change in a rural area. County officials plan to upgrade water systems, wastewater service and extend the airport runway — steps they say could bring thousands of jobs, even as some neighbors worry about more noise. - ➤ Six Northeast Ohio high school students spent months building 10 3D printed prosthetic hands and arms for kids and will fly to Ecuador to deliver them while helping families get extra medical care. They will also teach local educators to make the devices—project leader JonDarr Bradshaw said the program now involves students from 10 high schools on two continents. Cleveland 19 News
