  • Local artist Ron Moore Jr. is honoring fallen Lorain Police Officer Phillip Wagner by creating a heartfelt portrait that captures his legacy and sacrifice + he will present the portrait to Wagner's family while urging the community to support local law enforcement. Moore stated his work symbolizes solidarity with officers and continues his tradition of commemorating those lost in the line of duty.  News 5 Cleveland

CRIME NEWS

  • Lorain Police Officer Phillip Wagner died after being ambushed on Wednesday and two other officers were injured; community fundraisers have raised donations—such as a Saturday dinner hosted by Abbie Payne and car show proceeds—to support the families affected by the attack.  News 5 Cleveland
  • At the Rockin’ On the River concert held Friday at Black River Landing in Lorain, community members raised $11,000 for the families of police officers injured in an ambush—one officer died Thursday while two others are recovering from their wounds.  Cleveland 19 News
  • Lorain Police Officer Brent Payne was released from Cleveland Metro Hospital on Saturday after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in an ambush attack and was escorted home by police, where he will recover with support from family and community — a sign of local honor during a challenging time.  News 5 Cleveland
