  • A local woman in Elyria lost $50K on home repairs after her house burned down, and longtime contractor Shaun—trusted for two decades—kept one check for personal gain and now faces grand theft charges in court later this morning.  News 5 Cleveland
  • An Elyria City school at Westwood campus and its administrative building was placed on lockdown for about five minutes on Thursday afternoon as the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office investigated a suspicious vehicle—lockdown ended at 12:20 p.m. while a lockout continues to block entry.  Cleveland 19 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mike DeWine said Ohio schools may contact the state for campus safety recommendations following a school shooting — with Public Safety experts ready to review protocols and funds available to help schools improve safety — and he stressed the need for proper drills and trained staff in emergencies.  Cleveland 19 News
  • Lorain County leaders will vote today on a resolution to partner with Avon Lake and LORCO to create a new agency—CLERWTR—that will regionalize sewer systems using existing facilities.
