Good morning, Elyria.

Lorain Police Department has partnered with Bowling Green State University to give criminal justice students hands-on training—students take part in building clearing, crash reconstruction, and see SWAT and K9 demonstrations.

The program, which began four years ago with 30 students and now includes 60, is designed to build skills and foster long-term ties with law enforcement.

The Joint Community Development & Finance Committee will meet Monday, September 8 at City Hall on 131 Court Street in Elyria to review its meeting agenda for local community and fiscal matters.

Elyria police are enforcing new traffic laws near Ely Elementary School after they found serious traffic problems on Gulf Road at arrival and dismissal times—these rules ban stopping, left turns into or out of the school parking lot from Ohio Street, and blocking the driveway to keep students and staff safe.
