CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lorain County Sheriff deputies arrested a man and a woman in Elyria after a chase that began at 1:06 p.m. near Warden Avenue and Adams Street— the driver fled a traffic stop and reportedly threw a loaded firearm from his car, which K9 Zoar later located, law enforcement said. Cleveland 19 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Sept. 30, Ohio will require anyone 21 and under to complete a full driver’s education course and finish 50 hours of practice driving rather than taking a shorter course allowed before. The new rule was approved in June when Governor Mike DeWine signed the state budget—school districts must still allow up to eight hours for outside driving instruction. Cleveland 19 News
- ➤ Lorain City Council is considering a law that will charge parents with a first-degree misdemeanor if their child is caught past curfew or committing a crime. Council members will vote on the ordinance soon—this measure aims to curb the rise in juvenile crimes. Cleveland 19 News
