GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost warned that only one of the 20 top pornography sites meets the new age-verification law that went into effect on Sept. 30 and said he will send violation letters to sites that rely on a simple click to prove age — these companies must verify users are 18 with a government-issued ID or similar record within 45 days.  Cleveland 19 News
  • Mussey Avenue between West Avenue and West River Road South was closed on October 8 for repairs — weather permitting the road reopened later that day as all traffic was directed to detour via Oberlin-Elyria Road or West 3rd Street.  City of Elyria
  • On Wednesday, Governor DeWine announced plans to ban intoxicating hemp products like Delta 8 and Delta 9—items that look like candy and have no age limits—after officials noted studies linking them to brain harm and over 250 poisonings in recent years. This action comes as part of ongoing efforts to protect children from harmful substances.  Cleveland 19 News
