- ➤ Jim Ziemnik, director of Lorain County Metro Parks, said that Oberlin Splash Zone has cut its pool hours due to a lifeguard shortage and will offer Red Cross certification classes to train parents as volunteer lifeguards. - ➤ Elyria police arrested 20-year-old Tyler Jalowiec early Friday for multiple felony drug charges including trafficking in fentanyl, possession of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and criminal tools after they searched his Case Avenue home for the third time in three years while he was on probation for prior charges. - ➤ A man wanted for murder in Sandusky is behind bars after a brief SWAT standoff at a Lorain home — he left the house voluntarily and police took him into custody without further incident. Cleveland 19 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a year-long pilot, the Lorain County Board of Commissioners extended the successful Via LC rideshare service through July 2026 using funds from grants, the transportation budget, and contributions from Elyria and Lorain. The service now offers on-demand rides on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at bus fare cost (with discounts for seniors, students, and people with disabilities) while having completed over 76,000 rides.
